BWOMS Fresh Cuts: Celia Aguilar - "Better Days"

Happy World Poetry Day! Welcome to Episode 1 of our new video series, "Fresh Cuts." A series dedicated to showcasing the works of writers, storytellers, and songwriters in our community. We couldn't think of a better way to kick this whole thing off than by showcasing one of our favorites, poet and performer, Celia Aguilar! This is one of her more well-known and celebrated pieces, "Better Days."

Celia is a desert border native who focuses on social and political issues as well as the realities of growing up as a Brown woman. With a background in poetry and spoken word, she has delved into expressing herself through music, showcasing the talents of the El Paso, border community. Her work, whether experienced on stage, in print, or through digital means, are a perfect expression of her ability to balance sacred and hood. Celia is in the process of releasing her first studio album, Tletl.
